The Infection Control Preventionist position at The New Jewish Home's Nursing Department in Manhattan involves a wide range of responsibilities focused on ensuring the safety and well-being of both staff and residents. The Preventionist plays a crucial role in coordinating staff orientation, training, and education with a special emphasis on infection control practices. Collaborating closely with the Director of Nursing, this role oversees the infection control program within the facility, including collecting and analyzing infection statistics, coordinating response to outbreaks, and maintaining current policies and procedures. The Preventionist also ensures regulatory compliance, participates in staff education, and assists in performance improvement activities. Strong critical thinking, interpersonal, and communication skills are essential for success in this role. The ideal candidate should hold a Registered Professional Nurse license in New York State, with specialized training in infection prevention and control, and possess a BCLS certification. Additionally, a minimum of five years of experience in managing educational programs, preferably in a long-term care setting, is required.
Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State
Baccalaureate in Nursing, Master's Degree in Education or healthcare-related field preferred
Specialized training in infection prevention and control
Five years of professional responsibility in managing educational programs, preferably in a long-term care setting
BCLS Certification
APIC certification preferred or equivalent infection control experience
Strong critical thinking, interpersonal, communication, and computer skills required
