Job Summary The Nursing Quality Management Coordinator (NQMC) works closely with the Director of Nursing Quality, Patient Safety and Outcomes to support the Harris Health System Nursing Quality Program. The NQMC promotes quality and safety practices to achieve optimal patient outcomes throughout the organization. He/she is responsible for monitoring nursing structure, process and outcomes through data collection and analysis.
The NQMC ensures appropriate and accurate analysis, reporting, and use of nursing and other quality data. The NQMC supports the development and implementation of innovations and action plans to improve nursing outcomes and patient care and safety. The NQMC collaborates with other quality and patient safety departments, nursing leaders, and clinical nursing staff to facilitate best practice and evidence-based initiatives. The NQMC participates in audits, task forces, committees, etc. and assists with other quality initiatives as assigned. The NQMC advances and leads educational practices based on the Harris Health System Nursing Professional Practice Model, strategic plan, and in accordance with professional quality, patient safety, and accreditation organizations.
The NQMC ensures compliance with standards established by professional nursing organizations; national, state, and local regulatory agencies; and institutional policies and procedures. The NQMC holds high standards of integrity and ethical behavior, mentors others, role models professionalism, and participates in activities such as nursing organizations, nursing research and the community.
Degrees: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with a bachelor's degree in nursing or related field required. Masters degree in nursing or related field is preferred. Holds at least one on the following in nursing: Bachelors, masters, or doctoral degree.
License & Certifications: Current, valid Texas RN License Certification as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) is to be completed within two years, if not held at the time of appointment Basic Life Support from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross approved program Other certificates as required by unit/service.
Work experience: Three (3) years of work experience in related clinical area of practice.
Management experience: One (1) year related management/leadership experience is preferred.
