The HRO Coordinator, Registered Nurse reports to the Chief of Quality Management and Performance Improvement. Works collaboratively with each of the services within the Quality, Safety and Value service (Patient Safety (PS), Systems Redesign (SR), Quality Management (QM), and Performance, Planning and Development (P2D) services) to build, spread and sustain the organization's culture of High Reliability. The HRO Coordinator, Registered Nurse reports to the Chief of Quality Management and Performance Improvement. Works collaboratively with each of the services within the Quality, Safety and Value service (Patient Safety (PS), Systems Redesign (SR), Quality Management (QM), and Performance, Planning and Development (P2D) services) to build, spread and sustain the organization's culture of High Reliability. These activities include development and instruction on High Reliability training programs as well as marketing and education for staff, patients, and stakeholders. Serves as an instructor to teach techniques and methods related to high quality care, such as those fostered by Clinical Team Training, Team STEPPS, and similar crew resource management programs. Serves as a consultant to supervisors regarding implementation of the Just Culture Algorithm. As such, the HRO Coordinator may be exposed to confidential disciplinary action information and also serves as an instructor for Just Culture training for both managers and frontline staff. Coordinates and facilitates HRO activities within the organization, to include scheduling and coordinating logistical and administrative support for activities. Works towards achievement of high quality, safety, and cost-effective evidence-based outcomes. Collaborates with both administrative and clinical services to monitor quality and safety within the services and healthcare systems. Functions as facilitator in implementing action plans and process improvement strategies within the healthcare systems for follow up to include regular progress reports. Reviews quality, safety, and value data for trends and early intervention. Applies clinical performance improvement methods, collects outcome data related to policy, procedure, and regulatory compliance and in collaboration with senior program officials and executive management, initiates performance improvement monitoring projects. Utilizes data and comparative analytical processes in recommending design and implementation of innovative programs to improve service excellence, customer satisfaction, and compliance to patient care and regulatory standards. The activities of the HRO Coordinator not only strengthen patient care but also promote the development of a Just Culture at the unit/service/medical center levels. In addition, the HRO Coordinator: - Works with all elements of the Quality, Safety & Value team (QM, PS, SR, P2D) to identify vulnerabilities and develop processes and programs that advance safe, high quality patient care across the continuum of care. - Works with Clinical Teams to develop and implement strategies for improved patient safety and patient care. - Works to help break down silos between services to ensure development of strong patient care processes. - Places Veterans as the focus of all process innovation and change. - Shares lessons learned from group to group. - Assists the Medical Center in implementing priority sections of the HRO Toolkit.
