Department: Risk Management Hours per week: 40, eligible for benefits Shift: M-F 8-5p; rotating on-call requirement.
The Risk Management Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of the hospital’s risk management activities.
Population Specific Care
No direct patient care.
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential functions. These examples do not include all the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.
Coordinates and monitors day to day administration of the hospital’s risk management program.
Serves as a liaison between the Risk Management Department and organizational departments, supporting risk management projects and initiatives directed at reducing organizational risk exposures
Educates Children’s Hospital Colorado department staff on relevant regulatory and State requirements; provides staff training.
Manages and analyzing variance data, assessing compliance with regulatory agency laws and rules,
Assists with the development of the hospital risk management program under the direction of the Director of Risk Management. Shall include, but not be limited to, developing and presenting on topics relevant to risk reduction across the organization.
Manages claims and litigation, under the direction of the Director of Risk Management.
Acts as a claims data administrator, identifying and reporting on trends, investigating and responding to all claims/disputes.
Manages release of claim information, and initiates, maintains and issues all insurance certificates of coverage.
Coordinates insurance coverages and various risk financing issues.
Scope and Level
Guidelines: Guidelines are generally but not always clearly applicable, requiring the employee to exercise judgment in selecting the most pertinent guideline, interpret precedents, adapt standard practices to differing situations, and recommend alternative actions in situations without precedent.
Complexity: Duties assigned are generally complex and may be of substantial intricacy. Work assignment is performed within an established framework under general instructions but requires simultaneous coordination of assigned functions or projects in various stages of completion.
Decision Making: Employee is responsible for determining time, place, and sequence of actions to be taken. Unusual problems or proposed deviations from guidelines, practices, or precedents may be discussed with the supervisor before being initiated.
Communication: Contacts with the public or employees where explanatory or interpretive information is exchanged, defended, and/or gathered and discretion and judgment are required within the parameters of the job function.
Supervision Received: Under broad supervision, the employee receives assignments and is expected to complete them with substantial independence. Work is reviewed for adherence to instructions, accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standard practices. Recurrent work may or may not be reviewed.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Business, Public Administration, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: Four (4) years of professional experience in insurance and risk management or four (4) years of analytical experience with emphasis or increasing responsibility for statistical and project management work.
Equivalency: Professional experience in a related field may substitute for a bachelor’s degree requirement on a year for year basis. #LI-TS
