JOB TITLE: Director of Geisinger Patient Placement

Directs the Geisinger Patient Placement Services, designed to increase the efficiency of inpatient placement, bed utilization and patient flow as well as to improve the satisfaction of referring providers, inpatient units and patients and it consolidates and coordinates many of the functions associated with admission and transition of patients who have been referred to Geisinger for hospitalization, from internal and external sources. The Placement Services Center Manages the planned, unplanned and unanticipated admissions; outpatient referrals for specialty providers, and the centralized RN Triage team that supports patients and providers. The Director Interfaces with all physicians requesting consultation and/or inpatient admission or potential admission, outpatient follow up and scheduling, facilitates the coordination of patient placement in the appropriate locations.
The Director Placement Services Center Ensure the values, goals, and objectives of Geisinger, Geisinger partners and associated independent providers are enabled through operational efficiencies and excellence.
Measurably increase the value of Geisinger’s relationships (e.g., Medical Service Organization contracts, KACO, Independent referring providers) through identifying and managing issues, and planning and executing joint strategic programs.
Fosters positive relationships and provide strategic operational input and insights with Geisinger, Geisinger partners, and associated independent providers to align on shared strategic initiatives, value-based models of care, and other related joint programs in health care delivery.
Serves as a key member to lead the clinical, operational, and administrative integration of Geisinger, Geisinger partners, and associated independent providers.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develops policies and procedures for Placement Services Center operations and defines space requirements.
· Provides leadership in collaborative efforts with administrators, nurses and physicians to systematically plan, organize, budget, implement and evaluate the Center.
· Establishes performance expectations and selects new personnel for the various Center positions.
· Resolves conflicts related to Center functions with internal staff, external agencies.
· Ensures continuity of care among services delivering care to the patient and family.
· Provides leadership for analyzing feasibility data and developing and evaluating new programs.
· Establishes and maintains a current and comprehensive database related to Placement Services Center functions.
· Encourages innovative approaches to patient care delivery based upon clinical research, changes in practice and review of data.
· Reviews the units and systems exposure to develop educational activities for employees and associates that will reduce liability.
· Coordinates and communicates safety standards and processes.
· Collaborates with team leaders to develop employee and new physician orientation, continuing education and competencies.

Bachelor’s degree in related field- Required
Master's Degree in Business Administration/Healthcare Management- Preferred
Minimum of 5 years Managing people, process, and projects -Required
