The School of Nursing offers the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (both completion and pre-licensure), the Master of Science Degree in Nursing (with three options), and the Doctor of Nursing Practice. Our programs are accredited through the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The pre-licensure BSN program has full approval from the Missouri State Board of Nursing. Teaching and clinical experiences are delivered by 22 full-time faculty, many part-time/clinical supervisor faculty, and 2 staff using advanced equipment labs and a state-of-the-art on-site Simulation Center. Nursing programs maintain excellent retention, graduation, licensure and employment rates with a five-year NCLEX pass rate of 97%. The FNP certification five-year pass rate remains 100%. The School of Nursing seeks a candidate with expertise in nursing who has experience teaching and leading students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds. The ideal candidate will demonstrate outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to lead a team toward goal achievement. Responsibilities include leading through inclusive team building and promoting cohesiveness and a culture that values diverse views and perspectives. The Director leads and manages the School of Nursing; collaborates on curricular and fiscal management; ensures ongoing program review and development, evaluation, and accreditation; participates in student recruitment, admissions, advisement, evaluation, fundraising and alumni relations; mentors faculty in teaching, research, service, and grant writing; guides faculty and staff supervision and evaluation; participates in teaching, research, and service; and performs other duties as required.
The position requires an earned Doctorate in nursing or related academic field (PhD, EdD, DNSc, DNP, etc.) with relevant academic and clinical experience; a Masters in nursing; eligibility for Missouri RN licensure; a sustained record of scholarship including peer-reviewed publications; commitment to obtaining and managing grants and other external funding, and a record of teaching excellence.
Successful candidates must present:
Credentials for appointment to Associate or Full Professor level including a distinguished record of teaching, service, and scholarship meriting the rank of associate or full professor with tenure
Evidence of previous effective administration or leadership roles
Involvement with academic strategic planning, curricula planning, student recruitment and retention and program assessment
Experience with faculty recruitment, mentoring, development, and evaluation
Experience with fundraising, budget, and resource management
Demonstrated interest in the advancement of quality educational programs and innovation in the education/training of nurses
Experience in gaining and maintaining accreditation for academic programs
Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to lead a team toward goal achievement
Experience working with multiple constituencies and the experience or potential to build effective interprofessional collaborations within the College, as well as with the University and community
Ability to lead through inclusive team building and promote cohesiveness and a culture that values diverse views and perspectives
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of multicultural and diversity issues
