Key role as part of the Asset Life Cycle Management �ALCM� team located at Tenet�s home office in Dallas. This position is a National Director of Biomed, a member of the ALCM team who will oversee the National Biomed function for the hospitals and other healthcare facilities owned or operated by Tenet, in additions to other services to be defined. The National Director of Biomed will provide leadership and management skills to develop and assess hospital needs for covered services including service levels. Manage the 3rd party outsourced vendors to ensure contract compliance on behalf of the hospitals and home office leadership. The Director of Biomed will work with the facility Biomed teams to drive national standards for training protocols, PM�s, policies, labor sourcing, EOL tracking, TMS utilization and part sourcing along with opportunity identification, RFP development, RFP execution, contracting and contract implementation for all service areas targeted each year including the conversion of contracts to Tenet�s GPO partner HPG. The National Director of Biomed responds to requests from senior management and hospital operators for assistance with specific operational concerns for in-house and outsourced hospitals for all covered services. The Director of Biomed will maintain a company-wide database of key performance indicators (KPI) for tracking, trend analysis and opportunities for improvement for the covered services. The National Director of Biomed will work with the ALCM, Strategic Sourcing teams and local facility Biomed teams to accomplish strategies. The National Director of Biomed will have the following responsibilities: � Standardize PM�s, Service Contracts and Policies. � Analyze spend to find savings opportunities � Develop national in-house training standards and programs. � Develop EOL process for tracking, analyzing and budgeting replacement. � Develop national training, input and equipment review protocols for TMS to ensure accurate and similar input practices. � Assist in establishing a process for determining disposal vs retaining equipment for possible part sourcing to other facilities. � Run all Biomed related RFP�s related to Biomed service, outsourced vs insourced. � Implement contracts/elimination of contracts for hospitals and aid in any transition. � Create �Best Practice� to drive value and share knowledge throughout the system. In addition to Biomed service implementation, the Director of Biomed will develop a communication plan for operations (Hospitals, Groups and Home Office) for reporting, identification of additional opportunities and focus on continued improvement in both quality and cost of services. Further, this position will act as an agent of the hospitals to address any 3rd party vendor contracting needs including, but not limited to amendments for new services, changes in service levels and misunderstandings from the original contracts. This position will have latitude for exercise of independent initiative and judgment to research, create, plan and implement Biomed policies, strategic plans and programs as part of the overall ALCM Strategy. Specific job duties include: � Directs Tenet�s biomedical initiatives around service excellence and cost savings. � Directs RFP development, execution and vendor selection for ALCM team. � Coordinate�s Implementation of national contracts and services at the hospitals. � Advises alternative solutions on equipment needs and issues. � Standardization: o Consistent frequency of PMs based on OEM recommended standards. o Service Contract negotiated and standardized throughout the company. o Policy evaluation and consistent throughout company. o Training � price, consistency and expansion. � This person will be a key resource to the hospital A-teams for all needs for Biomed services. � Develop communication plan to Operations (Hospitals, Groups and Home Office) with the following elements: o Best practice sharing and implementation. o Identification of additional opportunities. o Focus on continuous improvement. � Main point of contact for Hospital A-Team for vendor issues with contract and or contract violations by vendor. This person resolves the issues as an agent of the hospital. � Point person with hospital A-team for changes with contract due to oversights in contracting or service level definition issues. Drafts contract amendments, facilitates legal review and sends to hospital for execution. � Handles contract amendments or in-house evaluation related to additional needs of the hospitals for biomed or equipment services. This would include contracts and or other expansions or conversions. Maintains record of any and all contract issues so they can be addressed immediately with a contract amendment or addressed in the next contracting phase. Again, prepares the changes so the hospitals only have to execute the agreements. � Creation of standards/process to ensure Joint Commission readiness. � Prepare Tenet for the next round of contracts. � Assist with Acquisition and Divestiture activities for the services. This could include involvement with due diligence sizing of opportunities for potential purchases. � Labor development, labor sharing development and establish training for national experts. � Develop part sourcing strategy to retain trade-in and /or replaced equipment to manage remaining company inventory of capital assets. Qualifications: A BS/BA from an accredited college with MBA preferred. At least five-plus years of supervisory experience and 10-plus years of Biomed Department related healthcare experience is required. Extensive Biomedical experience with large facilities or market management and significant vendor management skills. Must be service and detail oriented, possess strong interpersonal skills, be self-motivated, and possess the ability to work independently. Knowledge of hospital operations and management required.
