JOB SUMMARY: The Director of Quality is responsible to oversee and direct development, implementation and evaluation of the Quality and Performance Improvement (PI) program across all GMC sites to improve the quality and safety of patient care.
Implements and develops a quality and performance program across all GMC sites.
Leads and coordinates a performance improvement program in accordance with the Joint Commission, CMS, and Pa Department of Health Standards.
Partners with Regulatory PI, Patient Safety, and Clinical Risk Management to improve patient safety.
Cross functional leader, with strong communication and operations background capable of evaluating existing operational processes and make recommendation on improvements to increase, quality, safety, productivity, efficiency and effectiveness.
Collaborates with the Institute and Medical Staff members, Geisinger leaders and staff to design and implement measures, facilitate assessments, and lead processes to improve quality and safety outcomes as related to priorities aligned with strategic plans, annual objectives and regulatory or accreditation requirements.
Directs the compilation of data and preparation of reports and recommendations for effective performance improvement related to clinical services and patient care.
Assists in the identification of quality issues or potential problems throughout GMC and assists in the development of criteria and methods for prioritization and analysis.
As a leader, the director fosters the culture of safety and high reliability across all disciplines and processes.
Serves as a resource to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements: The Joint Commission, Pa Department of Health Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and Geisinger policies.
Supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation. COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Demonstrates the ability to work independently and as a member of a team. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related healthcare field required. Master’s degree in HealthCare Administration, Business Administration or healthcare related field preferred Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pa required Minimum 10 years related experience within a clinical environment required preferably within an integrated and complex health system environment. Minimum 5 years of managerial experience in a healthcare setting required Minimum 5 years expertise with healthcare quality required Strong interpersonal and communication skills, effective role modeling, project management, analytical and reasoning skills preferred.
