North Mississippi Health Services seeks a physician to join their leadership team to serve as the System Chief Medical Officer (CMO). The ideal candidate is a seasoned physician leader who has already served as a broad strategic leader in a health system. Participating actively in the strategic planning for the organization and leading the overall physician structure of the organization, this physician leader will work to maintain high quality medicine and clinical outcomes. North Mississippi Health Services is a multi-site healthcare system located in Northeast Mississippi. The flagship hospital is located in Tupelo. NMHS provides acute, diagnostic, therapeutic and emergency services, with the sole trauma center (Level 2) in the service area, through North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. The health care system also includes community hospital locations in Amory, Eupora, Iuka, Pontotoc and West Point, Miss., and Hamilton Ala., a regional network of more than 45 primary and specialty clinics; nursing homes and telehealth services. NMHS serves 24 counties in north Mississippi and northwest Alabama from headquarters in Tupelo, Miss. NMHS operates at over $900M in net revenue and is one of the largest employers in the state of Mississippi with over 7,000 employees.
NMHS is a 2012 recipient of the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, and NMMC, its flagship hospital, is a 2006 Baldrige Award recipient. NMHS has a strong market position and defines its primary service area as a seven-county area in northeastern Mississippi that generates about 66% of its admissions. It also has a strong presence in a 13-county secondary service area. The service area has a population base of 730,000.
Graduate of accredited medical school. Have successfully completed a residency training program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education ("ACGME") or the American Osteopathic Association ("AOA"), be certified in primary area of practice at by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties.
A postgraduate degree (MBA, MMM, MHA) strongly preferred or experience equivalent
Additional management training is desirable. CPE and/or FACHE certification preferred
Proven leadership of people and budgets within a system structure
Proven ability to manage multiple direct reports through delegation and accountability
Experience with integrating and expanding clinical programs across a system
Experience within CIN and/or ACO structure, whether as a provider or leader
Experience with virtual care (i.e., telemedicine), whether as a provider or leader
Respected clinician Oversight and/or involvement in development of new GME program and/or experience within existing GME program(s)
Leading providers/groups within value-based and/or at-risk payer arrangements
Served within leadership of CIN and/or ACO
Currently licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice medicine in Mississippi.
