MaineHealth Corporate is currently seeking candidates to fill the role of Clinical Quality Improvement Specialist. This key position in the Center for Performance Improvement (CPI) department will assist with developing and rolling out major programs across the MaineHealth system. This role’s responsibilities include analyzing and understanding quality data results. Critical to success will be having a familiarity with CMS, and other state or national organizations that set guidelines and mandates for healthcare organizations, and possessing an understanding of safety measures and patient satisfaction survey scores. Working closely with the Sr. VP, Quality Officer and the CPI Quality, Safety, Patient Experience Program Manager, the incumbent will develop, implement and share results of performance improvement initiatives.
The Quality Improvement Specialist facilitates improvement initiatives related to MaineHealth system wide quality improvement goals and opportunities. The Quality Improvement Specialist advances clinical quality throughout the system by partnering with goal driven teams and groups in improvement activities that align, deploy, measure and communicate advances in quality, safety, and effectiveness of patient care. The Quality Improvement Specialist integrates specialized knowledge of quality improvement science with strong clinical skills and experience to assist groups within the MaineHealth organizations to identify trends, develop improvements and sustain desired outcomes and accomplishments. The Quality Improvement Specialist provides consultation, assists in the planning, and development of quality improvement education content, and conducts learning sessions and collaboratives throughout the MaineHealth system. S/he is an effective communicator and collaborator who uses knowledge of current clinical care processes and common disease processes to facilitate cross-functional teams throughout the health system. The incumbent is able to function at a high level of self-direction and is able to interpret clinical information and data and make summary presentations to a wide variety of audiences. S/he has computer skills (common desktop applications) and knowledge of performance improvement processes and methods.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or clinically related discipline, Master’s degree preferred. • Registered Nurse with current Maine Licensure. • CPHQ (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) certification desired. • Five (5) years’ experience in an acute healthcare environment. • Three (3) years’ experience in leading improvement related teams, projects, and initiatives; familiarity with Clinical Microsystems desired. • Strong project management and leadership skills.
