Responsible for facilitating the performance improvement and peer review process in assigned area to improve patient outcomes. Conducts record review, data abstraction and analysis for internal and external reporting. Prepares meaningful reports to promote and sustain clinical quality improvement.
Produces and submits clinical data reports as requested by administration, clinical departments or committees. Participates in statistical analysis, interpretation and monitoring of clinical data.
Designs and develops performance improvement reports.
Integrates knowledge of external standards, including TJC and other state and federal regulations pertaining to quality.
Understands data abstraction requirements and applies during chart review. Collects data for external data requirements and benchmarking.
Reviews charts for quality concerns, including adverse occurrences. Establishes timelines and exercises discretion and judgment when identifying concerns for review to improve processes. Performs chart review to identify if variation from quality of care exists and to determine the need for peer review.
Supports several medical staff departments in performance improvement initiatives.
Conducts root cause analyses, develops action plans and submits required reports to regulatory agencies.
Coordinates clinical collaborative efforts to drive change in clinical practice and outcomes. Facilitates adverse occurrence review processes.
Supports risk management in review and follow-up of incident reports.
Leads performance improvement (PI) initiatives consistent with organizational priorities and goals.
Bachelor's degree. Graduated from accredited school of nursing.
Two years of quality management experience in acute care environment.
Intermediate computer and analytical skills.
Certification in Healthcare Quality within 2 years of employment. Experience in management of clinical databases.
